Information of the Main State Traffic Police Department of MIA about traffic accidents in the first half of 2021

As a result of 756 traffic accidents happened in the republic in the first 6 months of last year, 290 people died and 698 people got various degrees of bodily injuries. Compared to the corresponding period of last year, the number of accidents decreased by 4 (-0.5%), the number of deaths by 35 (-10.8%), and the number of injured by 3 (-0.4%).

The analysis of the accidents shows that 734 (97%) traffic accidents (18-2.4% by pedestrians) occurred as a result of violation of traffic rules by drivers. 302 (39.9%) violations of this rule were caused by driving at high speed (142 dead, 230 injured), 241 (31.8%) of entry and exit to the oncoming traffic lane and violation of the rules of overtaking (73 dead, 236 injured), 72 (9.5%) were violations of crossing rules (15 dead, 93 injured), 10 (1.3%) were driving under the influence (5 dead, 9 injured).

Pedestrian hitting (304 – 40,2%) and collisions (270 – 35,7%) still prevail among the types of accidents (hitting the obstacle 75 - 9.9%, exceeding 66-8.7%). Of the 290 (51 women, 26 teenagers under 7-16 ages) people killed, 123 were pedestrians, 87 were drivers, 68 were passengers, 10 were cyclists and 2 of them were other road participants.
