Statistics of traffic accidents recorded during 9 months of the current year

During 9 months of 2021, 1171 traffic accidents resulting in deaths and injuries were recorded in the republic, as a result of which 504 people died and 1043 people were injured. Compared to the indicators formed last year as a result of a significant reduction in traffic intensity and therefore the risk of accidents due to anti-pandemic measures applied in the country, the number of accidents in the 9 months of this year was increased by 26 facts (+2.3%), and the number of injuries by 20 (+2%) while the number of dead people remained stable (504).
The analysis shows that 1130 traffic accidents, i.e. 96.5% occurred due to violations of rules by drivers. Such violations were mainly related to driving at high speeds (475), entering the lane of and overtaking oncoming traffic (360), crossing intersections (116), driving under the influence of alcohol (14), and drowsy driving (9).
During the 9 months of this year, 483 pedestrian collisions due to the violation of traffic rules by drivers as well as pedestrians, especially due to the continuing cases of crossing the road at unintended locations were recorded, which is 41.2% of the total number of accidents in the republic.
In addition, cases of collisions (395), overturning (113) and hitting barrier (110) predominate among the types of traffic accidents.
Of the 504 people killed in road accidents (including 39 under the age of 16 and 102 women), 230 were pedestrians, 133 were drivers, 121 were passengers, 17 were cyclists and 3 were other road users.
